Amanwana Resort, Moyo Island
Bali
On a beach in a secluded cove overlooking the Flores Sea, Amanwana is a wilderness hideaway with accommodation in luxury tents. The protected marine park offers some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in Indonesia, with pristine reefs boasting a rich array of sea life.
Surrounded by the turquoise waters and untouched reefs of the Flores Sea, the island is 350 square kilometres with vegetation ranging from savannah to tropical jungle. It is home to a variety of animal and bird life, from deer to wild boar, macaque monkeys, sea eagles and osprey.
Amanikan is the camp's 32-metre coastal cruiser, taking guests to adventures on Rinca and Komodo islands, where the legendary Komodo dragons live. Jungle treks on Moyo offer guests the chance to discover waterfalls and a variety of birdlife. The island is also home to a deer sanctuary for the indigenous Rusa Deer.
Amanwana tents are not walled off from the rest of the island. Its deer breeding programme has ensured the steady increase in numbers of these shy creatures which can be spotted in the reserve.
