Description

Join a wood carving class at the Mammoth Art Gallery. Learn the basics or refine your skills under the guidance of master craftsmen. Discover the satisfaction of transforming a simple block of wood into a beautiful, lasting work of art. Begin with a safety briefing, learning the proper handling and maintenance of carving tools like gouges, chisels, and knives. Then, sketch and transfer your design onto your chosen wood. Master fundamental cuts, including stop cuts, relief cuts, and various textures. Finish your piece with sanding, staining, and oiling to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Depending on the session, projects may include relief carving, chip carving, or carving in the round (three-dimensional sculpture). Classes typically run for 2-hour sessions, offered on weekdays and weekends. All necessary materials, including a selection of quality hardwoods and professional carving tools, are provided.
