Choose your starting point according to your itinerary: From Bali: Departure at 5:45 AM from Seminyak or 7:00 AM from Ubud, followed by a ferry crossing to reach Java. From Surabaya: Departure before 6:00 PM (from the airport, train station, or your hotel in Surabaya). From Malang: Departure before 3:00 PM (from the airport, train station, or your hotel in Malang). From Yogyakarta: Take the 7:00 AM train to Probolinggo. You’ll be transferred to the Bromo region. Before dawn, hike up the slopes of Mount Bromo to witness the sunrise over the caldera – a legendary volcanic panorama. Then, walk along the rim of the active crater, immersed in an otherworldly and mystical atmosphere. Next, travel east to the Kawah Ijen region. After enjoying a local dinner and resting in a comfortable room, you’ll begin a nighttime ascent of Kawah Ijen. Descend into the crater in the dark to witness the mesmerizing blue flames and the incredible effort of the sulfur porters. At sunrise, you'll discover the world’s largest acidic lake – a stunning turquoise surface set against the dark volcanic walls. A truly unforgettable moment. • What to bring: Sports or hiking shoes, warm clothes (socks, sweatshirt, pants, jacket), raincoat, small backpack, and a copy of your photo ID. Need warm gear? We can lend you a jacket, gloves, and a beanie (subject to availability). Fitness level: Moderate to challenging. Not recommended for people with reduced mobility. Access to the Kawah Ijen crater may be restricted for children under 10. Blue flames are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed (volcanic and weather conditions). We always do our best to offer the best volcano experience. Ideal for solo travelers, couples, and small groups. Java can be noisy — we recommend bringing earplugs. All food is local and mild (vegetarian and halal options available). Expect no Wi-Fi during transfers and hikes.
