Description

Begin your day in a quiet Balinese village near Ubud, where your local host welcomes you in their traditional family house. After a short introduction to Balinese Hindu culture and temple etiquette, you will learn how Canang Sari offerings are made and why they are placed around homes, shrines and streets. With guidance, you weave leaves and arrange colourful flowers to create your own Canang. As you work, your host explains the symbolism of each element and how offerings are used in daily life. A simple home-cooked lunch is served in the house, giving you time to talk with the family and ask questions about village life. In the afternoon you join an ancient fire ceremony and gentle guided meditation led by a local priest. Through breathwork and chanting you are invited to release stress and set a clear intention for the water ritual that follows. You then travel to Tirta Empul, one of Bali’s most important water temples. Wearing a sarong provided by us, you make your Canang offering and enter the pools for a Melukat purification. Step by step, your guide shows you how to move through the fountains respectfully and safely. Please note that according to temple rules, women on their menstrual cycle cannot enter the inner temple; an alternative activity can be arranged in the village. The experience ends with quiet time to reflect and take photos outside the temple before you are returned to the village meeting point or your pre-arranged transfer. A portion of the trip cost supports the local family and community partners who host you.
