Description

Begin your journey with a warm welcome at Pura Beji Sapat in Tegallalang, a sacred temple surrounded by lush greenery and natural springs. Your guide will introduce the meaning of the Melukat ritual, a traditional Balinese purification ceremony meant to cleanse the body, mind, and spirit. You’ll first dress in a Balinese sarong and sash, a respectful attire for entering the temple. As you step into the peaceful temple grounds, you’ll notice the sound of flowing water and the fragrance of burning incense, setting a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The ceremony begins with a short prayer led by a local priest, where offerings of flowers, rice, and incense are placed at the shrines to ask for blessings. Then, you’ll be guided to the holy spring, where you will bathe in sacred water flowing from natural fountains. Following tradition, you will rinse your face, head, and body in a specific sequence, symbolizing the release of negativity, stress, and impure thoughts. As the ritual continues, the priest will sprinkle holy water over you and place bija (rice grains) on your forehead as a mark of blessing and renewal. Finally, you’ll sit in quiet reflection, feeling the sense of calm and clarity that the Melukat brings. Surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature and the serenity of the temple, you’ll leave with a refreshed spirit, a lighter heart, and a deeper connection to Bali’s sacred traditions.
