Pura Vida
Bali
Two Italian sisters visited Costa Rica in 1996 and were inspired by the colourful artistic culture in the country. They moved back to Bali and decided to take their inspiration with them to the island. Surrounded by the inspiration that they had gathered on their trip to South America they continued to create, from art, books, music and films. They felt inspired to create clothes and accessories.
Puravida has evidently grown far from its roots, with flagship stores in populated areas and concessions in major Indonesian department stores, the brand has even reached global recognition. Customers come from all over the world including America and Europe and use the wholesale distributor to take the products back to their respective countries in bulk.
Puravida’s products are made through the most ecologically friendly menthods, dying in a ‘green way’ and embellishing all the items by hand, each piece is unique and to be treasured as such. Using plain cottons and low impact materials overlaying them with vibrant designs, produced by the sisters themselves. This is a true fusion of Costa Rican inspiration and the free spirit of Bali.
Puravida take pride in ensuring their supply chain promotes fair labour that is paid well and secures a future for those who work with them. They also donate some of their profits to local charities and organisations. Including those, which support educational programmes in local areas of Bali. This appeals to the conscious customer, ‘light on the skin and on the soul’.
