Description
Experience a quieter side of Bali on this countryside cycling tour through our own village in Batubulan, just south of Ubud. Designed by a small local family business, the route avoids the busy tourist areas and follows quiet village roads and rice field paths that are rarely visited by tourists. Your day begins at Jero Tegal Jaya, our traditional Balinese family home. Meet us there directly, or choose a pickup option from the Sanur or Ubud area. Before the ride, your host will show you around the house and explain the traditional layout of a Balinese home built in the style of old royal residences. It is a chance to look more closely at how Balinese families live and how culture and daily life are woven into the home. After a bike fitting and safety briefing, set off into the countryside with your local guide. Start by cycling along small countryside roads before riding through green rice paddies, past small family compounds and farmers at work, as you get a feel for everyday rural life in Bali. One of the highlights is a narrow single-track path that runs right through the rice fields, with plenty of stops for photos along the way. Mineral water and light refreshments are provided during the ride. Stop at a local village temple, where your guide explains the role of temples in Balinese Hindu life, daily offerings, and the village community. Next, visit the workshop of a local stone carver and watch traditional padas carving at work. Padas is a soft volcanic stone used for temple statues, gates, and shrine decorations across Bali. See how simple chisels and hammers turn raw stone into detailed sculptures, and ask questions about a craft passed down through generations. Finally, cycle back to Jero Tegal Jaya for a homemade lunch of Balinese fried rice with dessert, served in our family home inspired by the architectural style of old Balinese royal residences. After lunch, relax with a cup of Balinese coffee before the tour comes to an end. This is a simple and personal meal rather than luxury dining: a chance to sit together, relax, and enjoy the warm atmosphere of a Balinese home. By joining this tour, you are cycling through our village, meeting local people and artisans, and supporting a small local family business. We hope you leave with more than photographs: a memory of the people, culture, and simple family atmosphere of Bali.Includes
