Penjor is a beautifully decorated bamboo pole that symbolizes gratitude to the gods and is commonly seen lining the streets during religious ceremonies and festivals in Bali. In this hands-on class, you will be guided by knowledgeable local artisans who will explain the meaning, philosophy, and symbolism behind each element of the penjor. Using traditional materials such as bamboo, coconut leaves, young palm leaves, flowers, and natural decorations, you will learn step by step how to create and decorate a penjor in the authentic Balinese way.
