In this fascinating tour, we will visit some of the most important centers of Catholicism in Bali, such as the holy trinity Catholic Church in Tuka which is the birth place of the Catholicism in Bali, the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at Babakan, inspired by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Mandala, the Catholic Church of Kepundung, decorated with beautiful carvings bas-reliefs and statues, and the Holy Spirit Cathedral of Denpasar, the biggest and the most important Catholic Church in Bali, built in the combination of the gothic and Balinese arquitecture. At the beginning of the tour, we will take you to the small village of Tuka, which in 1930 becamme the birth place of the Catholicism in Bali. The old church was built by Father J. Kersten SVD and blessed by Mgr. Abraham from Michigan on February 14, 1937. The present church was built in the style of community hall building or Wantilan in Balinese arquitecture with angkul-angkul typical Balinese entrance gate. Then we will proceed to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at Babakan, a nearby village, which was built by Father Norbert Shadeg, SVD, in 1967. The church consist of three courtyard in accordance with the Balinese philosophy of Tri Mandala, with Candi Bentar or split gate at the entrance of the church, Kori Agung or the grand entrance in the middle courtyard, and the church building innermost courtyard. Afterwards, we will proceed to the Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Kepundung, located at the old district of Denpasar, which was built in 1955. This beautiful church is built in Balinese arquitecture in accordance with the traditional balinese building philosophy, in which a beautiful split gate or Candi Bentar stand in front of the church, and the whole church building are decorated intricate beautiful Balinese carvings bas-reliefs and statues, made from sands stones and red bricks. In the end of the tour we take you to the imposing cathedral of holy spirit, which was inagurated by bishop Mgr. Silvester San on June 14, 2017. The cathedral was built in the combined arquitecture of Gothic and Balinese as the biggest and the most important Catholic Church in Bali.Includes
