Experience the real Bali in a small mountain village at the foot of Mount Batukaru, surrounded by lush, emerald green rice terraces. First, discover the fragrant herb and spice garden with more than 40 tropical plants and learn about the importance of all the herbs and roots for the production of Jamu. Try your hand at the more than 1000-year-old craft and prepare your own Jamu, as the traditional Indonesian health drinks are called. Taste and marvel as the world of aromas and flavors opens up to you. Then roll up your sleeves to prepare three yummy Balinese desserts—Lak Lak, Dadar Gulung, and Sumping—under the guidance of the head chef, and savor your creations. Listen to the gentle melodies of the Rindik, the bamboo instrument of rice farmers, and try playing a few notes yourself. In the late afternoon, visit Balikaru Farm to meet ducks, geese, and the friendly cow, Manis. Explore this with your guide and learn all about the Bali village life. Give your helping hand to the farmer at the rice paddy. Try planting rice by hand and witness stingless Trigona bees collecting nectar to make healthy, aromatic honey. End your day with a homemade Balinese dinner at Warung Balikaru.
